INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM

(IELTS)
Duration: 6 weeks

IELTS  is an examination designed to assess the English language proficiency of candidates. It comes in two modules: the General Training Module and the Academic Module. The General Training Module is suitable for candidates who are going to complete their secondary education or to work in English-speaking countries. This version of the test is often a visa requirement for those planning to  migrate to English speaking countries including Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. The Academic Module test is designed for candidates who would like to study or attend postgraduate courses in Europe, North America or Australia.

The course introduces the format of the test as well as the techniques and enables the candidates to be most efficient across the four language skills, listening, reading, writing and speaking. Preferably, a minimum B1 level of the English language is required in order to follow the IELTS preparation course.

  • Listening: Students practise selective listening as well as listening for gist. Different types of questions and tasks used in the examination are also introduced to candidates such as, multiple choice, short-answer questions, sentence / notes /summary /diagram/ chart completion, etc.
  • Reading: Candidates are trained to scan and skim a variety of texts and are exposed to different tasks, such as, multiple choice, short answer question, note/summery/diagram/chart/ sentence completion, matching lists, phrases, etc. in order to complete the tasks more successfully.
  • Writing: Candidates who take the General Training Module are trained to produce personal, semi-formal, formal letters and essays. Those interested in taking the Academic Module write a report referring to a diagram, or a table and are also expected to write an opinion or argumentative essay.
  • Speaking: Students practise the specific pattern of tasks and techniques of the oral examination (fluent expression, organisation and cohesion of the idea, clearly expressing and justifying opinions, etc.). In addition, the candidates during the course have several mock oral examinations on topics and questions similar to those in the real test.

Upon completion of the IELTS preparation course, candidates do IELTS mock test and get realistic test result.
